I'm Rebecca - entrepreneur, wife, and mother to four amazing children.
Preparing healthy meals has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. From my childhood in New Jersey, to living overseas as a young adult, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing a wide range of cultures and cuisines that inspire my time in the kitchen.
After meeting my husband and moving to BC in 2008, I became a birth and postpartum Doula. I loved every moment of working in a field that fuelled my interest in nutrition and wellness.
This passion became the catalyst for launching Pioneer’s Plate – a bridge between the hard working farmers - who provide our ingredients and the families seeking to maintain the same healthy lifestyle.
In a day and age of busy schedules and limited time, our goal is to provide nutritious, sustainable, and delicious meals, straight from the source - an achievement made possible by choosing our ingredients from a carefully selected network of Okanagan farmers.
When I’m not in the kitchen, you can find me adventuring in the great outdoors with my kids, or hiding (from said kids) with a strong cup of coffee and a good book.
Either way, we’ll keep bringing you delicious meals every week, harvested straight from their farm, prepared in our kitchen, and served on your table!
Thanks for stopping by. We can’t wait to cook for you!
Why did we make this decision?
FACT: Canada is one of the top 3 countries who produces the most waste in the world.
The decision to open a zero waste program was a natural progression for our company. We were already invested in reducing our carbon footprint by using organic and local ingredients, why not take things a step further and eliminate as much packaging as possible?
The extra hours we put in each week to store, sanitize, transport, pick up, and inspect each and every glass container are well worth the effort to provide this earth friendly and sustainable alternative.
If you love the convenience of a meal service, but not all the packaging, our zero waste program is a great fit for you! Click the link below to learn more.
PILGRIMS' PRODUCE - BC Certified Organic
Since its inception nearly 30 years ago, Pilgrims’ Produce has been committed to certified organic practices. Recognizing that the ecosystems which surround us are more complex and dynamic than most of us understand, we seek to work with the natural world as much as possible.
It takes good healthy soil – biologically active – to produce nutrient-dense plants which will result in healthy people. We are committed long-term to our small parcel of land and the community that surrounds it. Like Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring, we believe that by focusing on the “wonders and realities of this universe about us, the less taste we shall have for its destruction.”
